The quality of laws, the freedom to claim one's rights, and the way in which offices and courts of law operate: together these affect every individual. The current situation in the judiciary as well as the difficulty individuals have in claiming their rights has created an atmosphere of distrust in Slovak state institutions. For these reasons significant changes are planned in the above areas.

The area of social affairs, labour, family and health care will undergo several changes, mostly regarding the system of levies and the Labour Code.

The Government of the Slovak Republic has undertaken to put greater emphasis on education, science and research, mostly to address declining quality in these areas. The goal is to implement changes in a manner that will enable educational and research institutions to communicate and compete, and make them competitive not only within Slovakia, but also internationally.

In the area of protection of human rights, education in human rights and human rights law seem to be the biggest flaw. In the upcoming period, changes should be made to improve the quality of human rights education at schools of all levels, but also to create space for application of human rights.
