Education
Ján Čarnogurský received his Master of Laws degree from the Faculty of Law of the University of Vienna (1995) and then successfully completed his studies at the Faculty of Law of Comenius University in Bratislava (1997), where he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Laws (JUDr.) in 1999. In 2025 he completed his studies at the University of Cumbria and obtained a Master of Business Administration degree.
Academic activity
After graduating in Vienna, he worked as a lecturer at the Department of Central and Eastern European Economic Law at the University of Economics in Vienna.
Professional practice
JUDr. JUDr. Mag. Ján Čarnogurský began his legal career as an articled clerk in 1995. From 2000, he spent over a decade as a partner at a leading multinational law firm with more than 1,500 lawyers worldwide. He is now the Managing Partner of ULC Čarnogurský.
During his practice he has gained extensive experience in privatisation, mergers and acquisitions and investment projects. He specializes in energy law, banking and finance law, real estate law, securities law and civil law. He has conducted legal due diligence on major transactions involving energy companies, chemical plants, banks, insurance and pharmaceutical companies.
Credentials
Ján Čarnogurský is registered in the list of attorneys of the Slovak Bar Association and is a Certified Cybersecurity Manager.
